Some of this year's conference sessions

  1. Turing Theatre

Some companies buy start-ups to keep their tech fresh while others prefer to establish their own in-house lab or “skunkworks”. Singapore Airlines has opened a $45m research centre with Singapore University which has a cabin simulator at heart, collecting data on passenger comfort and sleep using sensors to guide seat design, cabin climate and customer experience. Ryanair has opened labs in places like Warsaw, Madrid and Dublin while Mastercard is opening a new lab this year. Do they really work in driving innovation? Early stage startups have the advantage of a late start and being able to learn from those who have blazed the trail. They also have the advantage of nimbleness and agility – a beautiful moment in time – before scale starts to set in and weigh them down. We gather a selection of these relative “newbies” and ask them how they are using these advantages to their benefit and how they are compensating for their disadvantages – from hiring of talent to limited resources.

The Bridge Series, by WiT and Phocuswright - Episode 2: Global & Product Tech Trends

WiT and Phocuswright team up in “The Bridge Series” to offer a global perspective of global and product tech trends that have taken root during the pandemic, and are supercharging consumer behaviour around the world. How are early stage and established startups responding to the accelerated pace of tech adoption and changed aspirations by consumers, and suppliers having to follow suit in their wake? Let’s face it, there’s never been a more exciting in product innovation.
