AI AND VOICE TECHNOLOGY SET TO RETAIN CROWNS FOR 2020

AI AND VOICE TECHNOLOGY SET TO RETAIN CROWNS FOR 2020

We asked travel technology professionals representing UK travel technology companies, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers and TMCs, “which technologies are set to have the biggest impact on the travel industry?”

Once again, 'artificial intelligence' was pipped to have the biggest impact on travel, with a huge 70 per cent of respondents saying AI was still one of the biggest opportunities out there.

More than half of these (55 per cent) also said that their business had already invested in, or was planning to invest in AI this year.

AI was followed by ‘Voice technology’ (29 per cent), and AR and Biometrics, (tying at 21 per cent) as the technologies most likely to have an impact.

Interestingly, 'wearables' were anticipated to have the least impact (15 per cent).

"Getting personalisation technology right with AI, is one of the biggest opportunities out there – and some companies are beginning to crack it." - Charlotte Lamp Davies, A Bright Approach

Investing in new technology

When it comes to other technology that travel professionals were looking to invest in, here are the results:

• 41% have already invested, or are planning to invest in voice technology
• 28% have already invested, or are planning to invest in IoT
• 28% have already invested, or are planning to invest in AR
