Eric Léopold is a strategy, transformation and technology expert in the air travel industry and an entrepreneur. Eric is the founder of Threedot, a consulting firm providing services to the travel & tourism industries. Threedot advises all companies, including airlines, airports, travel agencies, travel tech and investors, on their strategy for innovation, growth and transformation. In 2023, Eric was a consultant for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. He advised the organization on strategic planning, covering safety, security, environment protection, air navigation, facilitation and economic development.
Prior to launching Threedot in 2021, Eric had global roles at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) covering strategy, digital transformation and standard development from 2005 to 2020. His last role was Director Industry Strategy, focusing on the restart of the air travel industry after the Covid-19 crisis. Prior to this role, Eric was the Director Transformation for Financial, Distribution and Data Services. His team led the transformation agenda for the air travel industry, including change programs and industry standards, such as the New Distribution Capability (NDC). Eric championed the “Digital Airline Vision”, enabling airlines to become digital retailers and efficient financial organizations. Eric joined IATA in 2005, where he initially focused on the passenger experience at the airport and designed the standard for mobile boarding passes (QR-code).
Prior to IATA, Eric worked in internet startups and had management roles in the publishing and IT industries, in the US and in France. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from CentraleSupélec (France), a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech (USA), an MBA from ESSEC (France) and a diploma of the Advanced
Management Program in Air Transport from Nanyang University (Singapore). Eric is married, has two daughters and lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
