Ross Tuffee

Founder, Investor and Scaleup/Government Advisor

Ross is an entrepreneur with a background working across public, private, and academic sectors.  Amongst his portfolio of current roles he is an honorary Professor at University of Stirling and the Chair of TravelTech for Scotland.

Ross started his career as a management consultant with Ernst & Young and was invited to join the Management Team of one of its clients, First Choice, in 1995. He moved to Scotland in 1997 to work for Diageo, mainly in business change and IT roles, focusing on how technology can make a difference to both consumers and employees.

On leaving Diageo in 2009, Ross set up Dogfish Mobile (now Vidatec), just after Apple launched their iPhone.  It was here that he focused much of his time working in the travel sector supporting clients such as TUI Travel and Merlin Entertainments as well as many other travel and tour operators.  Ross worked with CIOs and business leadership teams to develop mobile strategies and solutions that deliver positive business outcomes.  “We don’t just build apps” was a truism for Dogfish – “We developed behaviour changing solutions that positively impacted people’s lives and drove great value for our customers."

Ross grew Dogfish to c.40 strong “mobile passionate” employees - eventually leading to its acquisition by The Insights Group in 20117/8.  He exited his business in 2018 and has run a consulting business in the technology sector.  He has worked with several start ups and scale ups in an advisory/board capacity.  He now focuses a lot of his time supporting local and national initiatives aimed at driving up the capability of entrepreneurship and technology teaching in our schools and universities and inspiring young people to consider a career in entrepreneurship and technology.

In the summer of 2023, Ross co-authored  a Scottish Government Policy document: “The Entrepreneurial Campus” on behalf of the Office of the Chief Entrepreneur and is currently working to implement its recommendations, alongside building his own travel tech start up (watch this space!).
