Simon Wilkinson is a software development expert with over 25 years of experience working with leading companies in a variety of industries, including travel. When an opportunity presented itself during covid, to solve an industry-wide problem, Simon jumped on it to create Spark Travel as a SaaS product. He firmly believed in the potential for Spark and in his team to deliver an exceptional product. The opportunity to focus his time and efforts on the travel industry, working primarily with tour operators and DMCs, was also very appealing.

Simon started his tech adventure building an internet startup in the late 90s, and then formalised his programming skills building a trading system for a large banking firm. Consultancy and building a software development agency followed, before getting back into the travel industry from 2018 onwards and onto Spark specifically in 2020.

Simon emphasises the importance of sustainability and innovation within the travel technology industry with Spark Travel supporting and speaking at the inaugural Risk, Safety and Crisis Management for a Sustainable Travel Industry hosted by Sanderson Phillips and Tranquilico in 2024. Based in London, he continues to lead Spark Travel in developing next-generation tools for travel companies.
